The Research Center (aka "the library") welcomes you to Florida State Law! As many students before you have discovered, the expert research librarians and resources of the Research Center are your not-so-secret weapon for success in law school and beyond.
This guide is meant to introduce you to a number of the resources the Research Center has available to help you in your first year in law school. This guide is just a starting point, and we encourage you to come to the Research Center if you have any questions or use our virtual reference service.
Here are some helpful links to get you started:
- Register for LexisNexis Courtroom Cast Audio Casefiles here! This is a free service from LexisNexis that provides audio recording of the full opinion and case summaries for many commonly used cases in first-year topics. You can browse by topic or by casebook.
- Be familiar with our Circulation policy! We keep study materials and a copy of the textbook for every class offered by FSU law behind the circulation desk. Lending for these volumes is limited to 2 hours!
- CALI provides free lessons on a variety of legal topics. To get the CALI authorization code for Florida State, contact Katie Crandall.
Many professors recommend using the Table of Contents from the class textbook as a way to organize your outline. We've included a PDF scan of the Table of Contents for each first-year textbook, just navigate to the tab corresponding with the class and you'll find the TOC and other study materials to help you succeed your first year!
