We are surrounded by data but what are data? Data are essentially numbers that haven't been analyzed. There are probably thousands of datasets that are online. This guide includes links to online sources for gathering data focusing in particular on government datasets. To study the data, you need to develop a hypothesis, find the data you need, and then analyze the data. This guide also includes links to books and articles on empirical research, content to increase current awareness, it covers software resources for statistical analysis and where you can find help on campus for empirical research.
