At its discretion, the Supreme Court renders a decision in a limited number of cases.

Courts of Appeals

The 94 U.S. judicial districts are organized into 12 regional circuits, each with a United States Court of Appeals.

District Courts

The United States district courts are the trial courts of the federal court system.


Each of the federal judicial districts handles bankruptcy matters, and in almost all districts, bankruptcy cases are filed in the bankruptcy court.
