At Federal Statistical Research Data Centers (RDCs), qualified researchers can access restricted-use microdata from a variety of statistical agencies to address important research questions.
The RDCs house data from many federal and state agencies and are available to researchers for approved projects. Statistical agencies collaborate with the Census Bureau to provide microdata in the secure RDC environment. The following agencies contribute data directly to the RDCs and each has their own review and approval process. Explore the links below to learn more about the data each agency makes available and the process to access their data.
Located at the University of Florida East Campus, the Florida Research Data Center (FLRDC) is a partnership between the U.S. Census Bureau and a consortium that includes the University of Florida, the University of Central Florida, Moffitt Cancer Center, and Florida State University. The FLRDC opened in 2022. Before being a part of the FLRDC, FSU was a part of the Atlanta Research Data Center (ARDC).
The FLRDC is a Federal Statistical Research Data Center (FSRDC), a secure lab based out of UF's East Campus, where researchers can access confidential, otherwise unavailable economic, demographic, and public health microdata provided by the U.S. Census Bureau or one of more than 10 partner agencies including the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), and the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). For a complete list of partner agencies and available datasets, visit the Census Bureau webpage.
There are currently 33 open Federal Statistical Research Data Center (RDC) locations. The RDCs partner with over 50 research organizations including universities, non-profit research institutions, and government agencies.
